Lapostolle Clos Apalta 2010
Lapostolle Clos Apalta
This iconic Chilean wine is expressive and complex, offering a mix of plum, red cherry, dried fig, mocha, vanilla and hints of clove. The palate shows great concentration and structure, as well as a long and vibrant finish.
Lapostolle is owned by the Marnier-Lapostolle family (of Grand Marnier fame), and since the winery’s foundation in 1994 has pursued an uncompromising approach to quality. Their objective is as simple as it is ambitious: to create world-class wines using French expertise and the superb terroirs of Chile. The Lapostolle holding consist of three vineyards, each in a different region and each chosen specifically for its affinity to certain grape: Casablanca for Chardonnay and Pinot; Requinoa for Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet; Apalta for Merlot, Cabernet and Carménère. Conversion to Biodynamic viticulture is almost complete, and reflects the obsessive attention to detail that already pervades Lapostolle. Not only is the fruit hand-harvested at night, but much of it is hand-destemmed, to ensure it begins fermentation in immaculate condition.
